Powered by an integrated online catalogue system, the site enables NBC to update and amend prices and listings in moments, add new categories of product at will as the business grows, and respond rapidly to intelligence gathered from the outstsanding stats reporting facility. For example, if the page-viewing stats were to show high viewing figures for a particular item without corresponding levels of sales, that would be a valuable prompt to find out why, and perhaps to promote the item more aggressively.

The site also dispels the myth that e-commerce is only for major players in the market. With the advent of card-handling services such as Paypal, which NBC uses, even companies of comparatively modest size can profit from the huge shop window and 24/7 opening which the web represents.
